Locations: Chelmsford Arena, Onaping Arena & Raymond Plourde Arena

The Club was founded on the principal of providing more opportunity for kids from District No. 2 to play elite hockey.  AAA programs in our district included the Onaping Falls Huskies (Major Bantam AAA), the Rayside-Balfour Sabrecats (Major Midget AAA), and the Valley East Cobras (Major Midget AAA). 

The Club applied to the Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) to rationalize the existing elite hockey programs in our district and, on February 26, 2007, the NOHA approved the creation of the Nickel City Sons Hockey Club (the Club).

The Club currently has two AAA teams in its program:

• The Nickel City Sons AAA Major Midget team (merger of Sabrecats & Cobras)
• The Nickel City Sons AAA Major Bantam team (formerly the Huskies)

It is the Club’s intention to pursue a Minor Peewee, Major Peewee, and a Minor Bantam team to complement the existing teams within the club.

The Club has recently selected the midget and bantam team coaching staffs for the upcoming 2007-2008 hockey season.  The Club’s first dry-land training session was held in June.  Team tryouts will be held the latter part of August.
